#01

If You Clicked a Suspicious Link

Close the browser tab immediately. Do not enter OTPs, passwords, or personal details. Clear your browser cookies and check downloaded files for unverified APKs.

#02

If You Shared an OTP or PIN

Change your netbanking password, UPI PIN, and ATM PIN instantly using your official bank mobile app. Call your bank fraud desk to block all outward transfers.

#03

If Trapped in an Investment or Telegram Scam

Stop depositing more money for 'withdrawal fees' or 'tax clearances'. Take complete screenshots of Telegram chat logs, UPI IDs, and transaction receipts, then report to 1930.

#04

If You Installed a Suspicious APK or App

Disconnect your phone from Wi-Fi and cellular mobile data right away. Uninstall the app immediately. Run a reputable antivirus scan, and reset your key financial and email passwords using a different phone or laptop.

#05

How to Spot Common Scam Signatures

Pause whenever an unexpected message induces panic ('Account suspended today', 'Electricity bill unpaid, power cut at 9 PM', 'Customs parcel seized', 'Guaranteed daily income from home'). Real agencies don't issue threats over WhatsApp.

#06

The Zero-Trust Checking Habit

Never click verification links or call phone numbers embedded within sudden SMS alerts. Always manually navigate to the bank's official website or dial the verified toll-free number printed directly on your bank passbook or debit card.

Crucial Rule to Remember

Legitimate banks, RBI, police officers, and government agencies will NEVER ask for your OTP, ATM PIN, UPI PIN, or password via phone calls, SMS, or WhatsApp messages.
